About the PUD
The District is located in Kittitas County, in the geographic center of the State, about an hour and a half (100 miles) east of Seattle, 45 minutes (40 miles) northwest of Yakima and three hours (175 miles) west of Spokane. The topography of the area includes snow-capped mountains, irrigated valley land, desert terrain and two major rivers, the Yakima and the Columbia. The County encompasses the City of Ellensburg (the Kittitas County Seat), the City of Kittitas, the City of Cle Elum, the City of Roslyn, the Town of South Cle Elum, and unincorporated areas of the County. The District primarily serves the unincorporated portions of the County.
The District is administered by a three-member Board of Commissioners (the "Commission"). The county is divided into three commissioner districts, each having approximately equal population and geographic size. One member is elected from each of the three commissioner districts every two years to serve for a term of six years. The present members of the Commission are:

John Hanson, Cle Elum

Paul Rogers, Ellensburg

Roger Sparks, Ellensburg
Under the guidance of these elected commissioners, the District continues to deliver affordable, dependable electricity to our rural and urban areas. The commission establishes policy, approves plans, budgets and expenditures and reviews the District's operations. The legal responsibilities and powers of the District, including the establishment of rates and charges for services rendered, are exercised through the commission.
The public meeting of the Board of Commissioners is held the last Tuesday of the month in Building "B".
Tourism is an important sector of the local economy. The Ellensburg Rodeo and Kittitas County Fair attract over 30,000 visitors to the area each Labor Day weekend. Local recreation opportunities include skiing, hiking, camping, fishing, river rafting, and hunting. The Gingko Petrified Forest and Wanapum State Parks are both located in the County. In addition, a large portion of the John Wayne Trail runs through the County. This 213-mile long trail stretches from North Bend
About our Commissioners
Our Board of Commissioners, comprised of local citizens elected on a non-partisan basis, set policy for this utility. Three Commissioners reside on the Board and each represent a certain area of Kittitas County. The Commissioners are elected for six year terms and the terms are staggered so that members of the Board are elected every two years.
